I've never hired a CA before — where do I even begin?

Start with a simple phone call or WhatsApp message. Tell us a little about your business — what you do, how long you've been operating, and what's worrying you most right now (ITR filing? GST registration? An audit notice?). We'll tell you honestly what you need and what it will cost.

What documents should I bring for the first meeting?

For a first consultation, don't worry too much about having everything ready. Bring your PAN card, Aadhaar, and if you run a business — your GST certificate, last year's ITR acknowledgement (if filed), and any notices you've received. If you're starting fresh, just your PAN and Aadhaar is enough to get going. We'll tell you exactly what else is needed once we understand your situation.

GST & TAXATION

My turnover just crossed ₹40 lakh. Do I have to register for GST immediately?

For businesses in Assam supplying goods, the GST registration threshold is ₹40 lakh (it's ₹20 lakh for services). Once you cross this in a financial year, you must register within 30 days. It's worth registering a little before you hit the limit so you're not scrambling. If you supply inter-state or sell on e-commerce platforms, you must register regardless of turnover. Call us and we'll check your specific situation — the rules have nuances depending on what you sell.

I received a GST notice. Should I be worried?

Not all GST notices are serious — many are routine clarifications or mismatches in GSTR-2A vs GSTR-3B that are easily resolved. But ignoring a notice, even a minor one, is never the right move. Share the notice with us as soon as you receive it. We'll read it carefully, tell you exactly what's being asked, and respond on your behalf within the required timeline. Acting early almost always results in a better outcome.

AUDIT & COMPLIANCE

Is a statutory audit mandatory for my business?

It depends on your business structure and turnover. Private limited companies must get a statutory audit done every year, regardless of turnover. For sole proprietors and partnership firms, a tax audit under Section 44AB is required if your turnover exceeds ₹1 crore (₹10 crore for digital transactions). Even if you're not legally required to audit, maintaining clean books reviewed by a CA protects you if the Income Tax Department ever asks questions.

What exactly happens during an audit? Will your team need to come to my office?

For most small and mid-size businesses, we can conduct a large part of the audit process remotely — you share digitised records, bank statements, purchase and sales registers with us via WhatsApp or Google Drive. We review these, raise queries, and finalise the audit report. For certain statutory audits or where physical stock or asset verification is needed, a site visit may be required. Either way, we try to minimise disruption to your day-to-day work.
